An individual who laced sweets with sedative and gave them to minors at a summer camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The accused was held in detention before a further hearing on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben played a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had played this game with the young males "over an extended period", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to have a look in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel said items including infant oil, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepchild alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the man continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The oversight body, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member called the police again.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
